With the court decision of 12 May 1998 – 312 O 85/98 – ‘Liability for Links’ the regional court of Hamburg decided that everyone must take responsibility for the contents of the linked sites. According to the Court, this can be – be prevented with a disclaimer.

Use of data
We only use personal data to make our e-mail newsletter more personal. Providing data in excess of a simple e-mail address is voluntary and is only intended to enable us to address you personally. You may of course establish a second address and input made-up names. Every newsletter contains an encrypted hyperlink that you can use to access your data and amend or delete these as you wish.
Passing on data
We will not sell or trade data on customers or interested parties, nor will we harm your personal rights in any way. Similarly, we will not lease our address lists or send third-party advertising to you in our own name.
By inputting data about yourself you give us your consent to store and use such data in accordance with the Federal Data Protection Act [Bundesdatenschutzgesetz]. Every web server automatically registers accesses to websites. This information is stored anonymously. It is not possible to identify you in person or your individual behavior. For our newsletter we use software that stores usage behavior on an anonymous basis. The hyperlinks that are clicked on are registered, but cannot be attributed to an individual person. We produce profile information on the use of our websites and our newsletter on a purely anonymized basis and only in the interests of improving user management and optimizing our offering based on users’ interests. We do not register individual behavior.
- A cookie only contains data that a server issues or/and that the user enters on request. Structure: Information on domain, path, expiry date, cookie name and value.
- A cookie cannot harm a hard drive.
- A cookie cannot transmit or execute any viruses (at least based on current knowledge, as ASCII text only).
